Charli XCX Plays a Dark Alter Ego of Herself in Fictional Documentary Teaser
Charli XCX is getting ready for a substantial cinematic presence in 2026, kicking off with the mockumentary titled The Moment.
Throughout the movie, Charli embodies what she calls as a dark version of her public image.
It’s the realest depiction of the music business that I’ve ever seen, Charli commented.
She clarified in a conversation: This isn’t a concert film, yet the concept stemmed from the demand to produce one.
A Sneak Peek into The Moment
The debut trailer, unveiled on this week, mixes real clips from her live performances with made-up backstage scenes.
The Moment is overseen and co-authored by her collaborator, who shared that the narrative focuses on a world where the artist made entirely different choices throughout the publicity of her smash hit album Brat.

The mockumentary is only one of many upcoming film appearances for Charli, who has appeared in three festival films in the current year.

Upcoming Projects

She also agreed to appear in the star’s maiden directing project A Tree in Blue.

Soundtrack Involvement
Next February will also bring the launch of the director’s interpretation of Wuthering Heights, which will showcase new music from Charli.
She will also provide music for the drama Mother Mary, with Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel, set to be released in the coming year.
The film is scheduled to debut on January 30.
